Shakespeare & Co. Bookstore
The Shakespeare and Co. bookstore is a famous Parisian landmark. Does it matter that this is not the original location of Sylvia Beach' Shakespeare and Co. bookstore?
This is actually the location of George Whitman' "Le Mistral" bookstore. After closing her bookstore, Sylvia handed over the Shakespeare and Co. name to George. Interestingly, the latter named his daughter after Sylvia, and she still runs the bookstore.
Difficult not to mention the way it was before Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" as there is clearly a before and an after that film. Now you have to queue outside to get in...
It would be interesting to have a research to determine whether the bookshop visitors actually went to buy a book or just to see the bookshop...
